Straight- if you have a straight figure, the measurement for your bust and your hip are almost the same, Your waist is not clearly defined because it is not much smaller than your hip, giving you the straight up and down appearance. Your job in finding the perfect dress is to accentuate the bust line or shoulder area as well finding a dress with draping around the hipline  Princess seams, slip dresses, A-lines, and empire waists, bell, long-fitted or ruffled sleeves will help you accomplish this. Round- if you have a round shape you typically have a larger measurement at the bust line than the hip,  and your middle is somewhat protruding in the front; if you are overweight, you won't have a waistline at all. Your thighs, legs and arms are slender, giving you a top heavy appearance.  Look for dresses that de-emphasize the middle, such as drop waist or no waist dresses. Accentuate your gorgeous legs and slender arms with  shoes, hosiery or a long strand of pearls.  De-emphasize your roundness with an angular or asymmetrical hairstyle.

"A" figure ladies have smaller bust lines than hips, with a clearly defined waistline. Your challenge is to emphasize the upper body as well as the waistline to balance the disproportion. You can do this by wearing dangly earrings or a dress with eye catching details! Also, wear darker colors on the lower half of your body, and accent the waistline with a glitzy belt. Strapless works well for your body type. Make sure your hairdo is full enough to accentuate the upper body.

Hourglass -this type is the most proportioned of all the body types. Your best features are your waist bust and hips. Your body type is the most womanly;  so you  want to dress in a more modest way to avoid the tendency of  looking  tacky or trashy. Dressing your figure in a classic style, can look absolutely fabulous because you are already  balanced in a super feminine way!  Try a sleek classic hairstyle for added sophistication.
